Rì Galerie is delighted to present "Postmodern Expressionism," an online solo exhibition featuring the works of Arie Otten, a self-taught visual artist from the Netherlands. This exhibition showcases a compelling series of artworks that are both evocative and dynamic, with a significant number of them exploring experimental elements. When observing Otten's paintings, a myriad of emotions is stirred within the viewer's mind. The colors and shapes present in each artwork elicit various sensations, ranging from positive to negative, and may even evoke the phenomenon known as Stendhal Syndrome.

The artworks created by Dutch artist Arie Otten possess a unique ability to suggest and evoke emotions simultaneously. His artistic journey has been extensive, filled with unpredictability, and, above all, a source of psychophysical well-being. Stepping into the realm of the art market has been exhilarating for him, as the knowledge of selling his creations brings immense joy. Finding solace in appreciating life's beauty through creativity has instilled optimism within him, prompting a desire for personal transformation and the pursuit of manual activities as a means to alleviate the hardships of existence. It was during his art classes that he discovered his remarkable talent: the ability to paint with his mind's eye.

He embarked on a research-driven journey, crafting distinctive artworks characterized by bold colors and abstract shapes reminiscent of primitive art. Above all, his creations emanate a profound sense of tranquility and joy. However, there are instances where he channels his anxiety into powerful imagery, employing primary colors and blacks to evoke feelings of unease and fear. Primitivism and abstractionism serve as points of reference in his daily artistic exploration, enabling him to attain original iconographies, such as the notable "An Eye on Jeans" from 2011. Within this catalog, we present an authentic anthology of his creations, showcasing both paintings and sculptures. Engaging in a conversation with the artist will provide valuable insights into the essential and defining aspects of his artistic production.
