The Elegance of Solitude
The Elegance of Solitude is a group exhibition by 12 Hong Kong local artists including Little Thunder, Afa Annfa, b.wing, Kwong Wing-Kwan, Purple Liu Tsz-Ting, Dallas Lee, Stacey Chan Lok-Heng, Sammi Mak, Belinda HY Chan, Leung Pui-Yi, Abby Lee Yan-Yee, and Kaiaroonsuth Chonticha, which showcases their landscape, architectural, abstract and portrait works to embark on an everyday journey from home to street and a sense of elegance is conveyed through solitude in the spaces depicted in their art, to explores the impact of loneliness and absurdist philosophy on modern society.
Human beings have perpetually grappled with the dichotomy of control and being controlled, and the essence of life lies in achieving a balance between the two. The existence of humans can be likened to the elegant furnishings within a corridor. Each room holds memories that people occasionally recall, whereas the corridor merely serves as a conduit that people tend to forget. Can individuals find redemption within the confines of solitude?
Throughout history, humanity has consistently exhibited a penchant for rebellion, and perhaps the very purpose of existence lies in the act of resistance. Within the realm of solitude, art serves as a graceful form of defiance.
