Xie Xuan-Xuan: The Great Rising Tree

The Great Rising Tree is a solo exhibition by the Mainland Chinese artist Xie Xuan-Xuan, which showcases her purity, joy, and playfulness, continues her interpretation of myths and fairy tales, and is full of childlike interest and philosophical thinking.

Mythology is a complex system of images and beliefs that constructs the sanctity of human life at the linguistic level and provides the possibility for the existence of human culture. Expands the definition of myth into the realm of popular culture as an intentional form or pattern of meaning. These "social myths" retain the falsehood and symbolic meaning of traditional myths, while incorporating modern symbolic theory and thought control and guidance strategies.

At the same time, it exposes the inner mechanism of the generation and naturalization of cultural symbols and points out that "all the myths in daily life are stitched together to form a seamless ideological envelope, which is a false description of the workings of the world." Daily life is not only a by-product of capitalist material consumption, but also the link that presents and connects all activities with individual sensory significance. In the work, these two mythological levels are intertwined and coexisting, rather than opposing each other. These intertwined everyday myths are dissected to reveal the eternal human desire for connection and community.
