Wilson Shieh: Chop Suey 2008 - 2022

Chop Suey 2008-2022 is a solo exhibition by the Hong Kong local artist Wilson Shieh, which showcases his works from 2008 to 2022, the artist tries to expand his creative medium from pencil and wood color sketches to digitally printed collages, oil paint and acrylic on canvas, to explore more themes that integrate popular culture. The series of this exhibition retains his unique style, depicting contemporary characters and scenes with delicate brushwork and humorous techniques, witnessing the changing times of Hong Kong.

The artist has been interested in fine arts since childhood, his style has changed more innovatively and the techniques are combined with traditional Chinese fine brushwork and Western painting techniques, thereby producing a new thinking or a new style of painting which is refreshing. His delicate and realistic meticulous art and rich in Hong Kong cultural characteristics combine contemporary culture with traditional Chinese techniques and show the viewer the various possibilities of his works.
