The World Is Your Oyster
The World Is Your Oyster is part of the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association’s (HKAGA) Summer Program, which features works by Lau Hong-lam, Natalie Lo Lai-lai, Mindy Lui, Amy Tong , and Gavin Yip. The artists from different disciplinary backgrounds will be exhibited together in this group exhibition for the first time.
The title of the exhibition is a congratulation to these five fledgling Hong Kong artists. Metaphors aside, this famous idiom is borrowed to describe how the foods we eat, such as oysters, are products and reflections of the complex modern world food systems. The contrasting difference between oysters and the entire world also hints at the huge gap between our food consumption and its industrial production.
