Park Yoon-Kyung: In Between Islands

In Between Islands is a solo exhibition by the Korean contemporary artist Park Yoon-Kyung, the connection and communication between humans and the natural world, expresses her admiration for the beauty of nature, and triggers raw emotional responses in the heart. The work draws inspiration from Jeju Island’s stunning scenery, rich culture, and unique dialect.

In a modern interpretation of the traditional Korean word painting "Munja-do", she continues to explore the relationship between language and image through her contemporary word-image works. Mastery of painting on translucent surfaces and using frames to create three-dimensional installations transcends the boundaries of traditional canvas.

In this latest work. she uses bright colors and bold brushstrokes to explore the connection between humans and the natural world around them. Putting this experience into paintings, turning words into patterns, and presenting them in abstract form, becomes a new language while leaving room for interpretation by the audience.
