Myonghi Kang: Origins

Origins is a solo exhibition by the Korean artist Myonghi Kang, in among the idyllic canvas provides an intimate perspective to the elusive core of her artistic pursuit: the belief in painting and painting as a medium can profoundly strengthen our relationship with the natural world. The artist is comfortable between abstraction and concreteness, reflecting on the issues of perception, reflection, and understanding, and at the same time providing the audience with a new experience of time, space, and color. Through the cosmic landscape, her mastery of colors, marks, and shapes conveys a sense of prosperity, peace, and happiness.

The canvas conveyed a powerful message: I believe that painting and painting are a medium that can profoundly strengthen our relationship with the natural world. Myonghi reflects on the issues of perception, embodiment, understanding and life, while providing viewers with a new experience of time, space and color. Through the ethereal landscape, her mastery of colors, marks, and shapes conveys a sense of prosperity, but also peace and joy.

For fifty years, the artist has continuously sought new ways to express nature on paper and canvas, involving painting, poetry and philosophy. The works displayed in the exhibition vary greatly in scale, but they all have a directness, which is produced by the artist's familiar and smooth contact with oil paint and pastel. The gallery will be transformed into a meditation sanctuary to complement the artist's work, provide a paradise away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and immerse visitors in her visual language.
