Lewis Lau & Ann Ng: Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A Time is a joint exhibition by 2 Hong Kong artist Lewis Lau and Ann Ng, which is intoxicated by their memories of the good old days. When everything around them drifted away like sand in an hourglass and slowly disappearing, they tried to stop it. However, their efforts were in vain and they could not get back what was lost.

Faced with all kinds of helplessness and setbacks in real life, Lau used colors and fragments of memory to let himself fall into a pure land formed by imagination and memory, as if maintaining the bits and pieces of self-compassion.

Ng experienced the life of migrant workers in the Mainland China earlier, and moved her art studio from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. She lives alone on the roof of a farm worker, there was a plant called a "rootless plant." just need to grab a handful of dirt, then the plants will grow on it even without seeds. These plants are often grown on roofs witnessed and accompanied by people's migration and settlement.

Although "Rootless Plants" are inconspicuous and contain powerful vitality. They witnessed the migration of people who leave their hometown and living in other places temporarily that is stable condition is short-lived. This unstable state is a reflection of our real life.
