Jean-Marie Apprious: MAGNETIC

MAGNETIC is a solo exhibition by the French artist Jean-Marie Appriou, which will bring viewers deep into his dreamy, pulsing creative universe and into the beating heart of his artistic practice.

His sculptures deftly blend the earthly and the sacred, the animal and the human, the scientific and the mythical, transformed into living creatures, each of which presents a fragment of his extensive research practice, choosing to sail in uncharted magnetic waters, he invites the viewer to explore this new, uncharted territory with him.

The starting point for the exhibition is the medium itself: forever interested in its metallic properties, the artist turned to stainless steel for the first time, opening a new chapter in his sculptural practice. The title itself directly alludes to the attractive and repulsive powers of this metal, not to mention a direct link to the subjects of his sculptures: an electric eel, an astronaut, and a squid sculpture lamp, all of which, according to the artist, embody a certain magnetic force concept. An exploration of materiality - marking its first use of stainless steel and electricity - it was his whimsical discovery that was inspired in part by his study of electric eels and, thirdly, the earth's magnetism, polarity, and the forces that attract and repel each other. force of nature.

We have never come across such a pleasant and friendly tour guide in my entire life as you. The information you provided us with during it has been instrumental in understanding the true essence of the stunning exhibition. Have a nice trip in your home town and Merry Christmas, dear. ❤️🎄
