Somewhere Better Than This Place / Nowhere Better Than This Place is a solo exhibition by the American visual artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres @felixgonzaleztorres.foundation, which showcases an important series of works by the artist, aiming to demonstrate the profound resonance between his creative practice and Hong Kong's complex urban fabric, historical trajectory, and evolving urban identity.

His works are simple in form, rigorous in concept, and skillfully use everyday materials. Their meanings are both concrete and varied, rigorous and inclusive, poetic and political. In exploring the many complexities in his work, he attempts to question and break down binary oppositions such as belonging and alienation, particularity and universality, individual and collective, and fixed and transient.

During the exhibition, candy and stacked works will be displayed simultaneously in key locations throughout the city, exploring the intricate relationship and negotiation between private and public spaces, intimacy and anonymity that runs through his creative practice. By integrating the artist’s work into Hong Kong’s urban environment and daily rhythm, the project has sparked reflection on concepts such as access, the public, and public and private space. Furthermore, these synchronous installations also demonstrate the work's continuous variability and openness: they can respond to different contexts and simultaneously carry multiple evolving meanings.
