Pang Yongjie (picture 1) is one of the leading figures of China's post-contemporary abstract art movement. He drawed from the mid-eighth century the Tang dynasty's aesthetic concept of advocating a full female physique. His works depict female images, whose beauty is expressed in the artist's iconic abstract and fluid form. The plump women in the artist's works seem to be gentle, light, and casual. The flowing gowns and rosy lips are a visual feast, reflecting a quiet and profound spirituality-an inner perception and a deeper understanding of the self. He took the female image in Tang dynasty art as the blueprint, and was marked by the abstract female image of sensibility, fluency, fullness, maternity and humor. The artist has formed what he is now known as the abstract concrete style.
