Rì Galerie is thrilled to present The Light of Science and Technology, an online solo exhibition by the emerging Mainland Chinese contemporary artist Ying Ying which is advanced rethink by the artist in technology, exploring the transformations occurring in the physical and digital realms inhabited by humankind.
In early childhood, Ying begins to explore the environment and objects within triangles. This exploration fosters the development of conceptual understanding, perceptual skills, preferences, and awareness of differences. In her artwork, she scientifically examines the aesthetic of triangles from a scientific perspective, which also aids in gaining a deeper understanding of the impact of AI technology on the structure of painting.
In this exhibition - The Light of Science and Technology explores the value and significance of technological aesthetics while contemplating a series of changes brought about by technological innovation to social structures. These changes encompass the natural elements of the physical world and artificial entities, the transformation in their modes of interaction, as well as the state decomposition under computer vision. Ethical inquiries arising from artificial intelligence contemplate the renewal and iteration of social norms, offering insights into new patterns governing the operation of the AI realm—aggregation, embedding, discretization, and derivation. Objects within these environments are decomposed and interact in novel ways under the influence of computer vision and AI (Artificial Intelligence) systems, necessitating the updating of social norms and ethical frameworks to govern the appropriate behavior of AI. Research into these issues aids in elucidating the principles governing the control of AI system functionality, such as aggregation, embedding, discretization, and inference.
These artworks undergo a process involving AI, starting from the initial concept—hand-drawn sketches—followed by computer-generated images through AI, human intervention in the design process, and finally, presentation on canvas. They undergo a baptism of both science and art, giving rise to a profound sense of ceremony. Through this ceremony, we gain a clear vision of the micro and macro effects of the world, unveiling the overlooked or concealed logic that lie behind the world. This revelation brings about a sense of enlightenment and transparency. She unshakeably believes in the inherent logic of the world, which can be interpreted through the lenses of both science and art. Simultaneously, it enables us to face the unknown without fear but instead with fearless courage and honor as we embrace the advent of the AI era.
Centered around the analysis of the artwork, a study is conducted on the "elements of visual effects" to observe how they strive to establish connections with contemporary society's messaging. Ying captures natural elements and social phenomena with the aim of reassembling, reconfiguring, and rediscovering order. She identifies and examines the overall composition of the artwork, as well as each constituent element, utilizing the intentional symbolism of these elements. By establishing connections between the artworks and merging them, they contribute significantly to the development of triangulation, thus playing a crucial role in artistic creation.
