Solo Exhibition Twice II: of Seeing

Solo · Exhibition · Twice II: Of Seeing is a joint exhibition by the Mainland Chinese self-taught artist Yeung Tong-lung and the Hong Kong-based artist Sze Yuen, which includes Yeung’s recent oil paintings, as well as Sze’s charcoal works and oil paintings from the past ten years to the present. Through the production of paintings, the display of paintings, and the interaction between paintings, the artist's deep and calm thinking about the act and process of "appreciating at paintings" is reflected.

Yeung is known for his large-scale figurative paintings, which are characterized by bright colors, sharp contrasts, and collage-like compositions that connect multiple spaces, different characters, and narratives on the same plane. His works prompt viewers to reflect on forgotten chapters of Hong Kong’s history while revealing the artist’s keen recollections of his beloved city.

Sze's creations have always adhered to the horizontal scroll form. Most of her works present soft tones and are full of deep uncertainty and instability in terms of location, space, time, and theme. Her work invites the viewer's gaze to move fluidly in different directions from one panel to the next, creating a comprehensive perspective and narrative.
