Paul Hunter Speagle: The Speagle’s

The Speagle's is a solo exhibition by the American artist Paul Hunter Speagle, which invites the viewers into the artist's home and meets his lovely family. Far from the façade of the "perfect family" we often see, he depicts the everyday encounters in his home in a real, unfiltered way deliberately hidden from public view.

The exhibition unfolds in 3 stages, each a key stage in the artist's journey to bring this unique experience to life. From family disputes to mounting kitchen bills, this exhibition serves as a beacon of truth and clarity in a world that idealizes family life. Inspired by his wife's suggestion to "picture your life and us," the viewers will first step into a room decorated with trinkets of love and objects of special significance to his family. And then, the next room will be the artist's studio, where viewers can witness the artist’s creations not only encapsulate the memories he shared with his family but also serve as a means for him to navigate the complexities of life in his pursuit of self-growth. The final room will feature the artist's personal home videos and new large-scale paintings, one more than eight meters wide, a monumental work, and the largest painting.

These large-scale paintings beautifully capture the multifaceted nature of life, from moments of pure joy to trials and tribulations. They are a reminder of the delicate balance between public appearance and private authenticity in domestic life. Through his art inviting viewers to cherish family bonds and embrace the hope of brighter moments, even in the face of adversity.
