Hirosuke Yabe: Playground

Playground is a solo exhibition by the Japanese artist Hirosuke Yabe, which refers to how humans strive to follow the golden rule and do good to others. Just like the purpose of a children's playground is to have fun playing and interacting with others, there is a potential for violence and manipulation in it, as power play comes with human survival needs, the artist constantly asks, "What is it to be human??" and "What is a human being?".

The devastating events of recent years have had a major impact on his practice. Each piece embodies the complexity and contradictions of a human being, showing the many aspects of life that fascinate and inspire him - its beauty, ugliness and dilemmas. The work quietly observes and records daily life in a way similar to a personal viewing diary.

Its artwork may have cute expressions, or it may be a bit childish. However, humans have many different sides, sometimes becoming "animals", or "monsters". Things that bring destruction, things that govern death, things that bring misfortune. Maybe they blend seamlessly into their surroundings, ever-present, charming people, captivating them with their cute, innocent looks
