Fatina Kong: Flourishing City Spectacles

Flourishing City Spectacles is a solo exhibition by the Hong Kong local artist Fatina Kong, which showcases her latest series of paintings, the works transition from cityscapes and landscapes to capturing the intricate veins of nature.

The viewer can easily identify the interplay between realistic and abstract elements in her paintings. The artist's innovative narrative approach is derived from flower stems, leaf veins, and stone marks, which have a natural quality and are reminiscent of the cyclical processes of nature. Although humans do not participate in these natural events, we can observe the unique traces they leave behind.

The artist’s brushstrokes are subtly intertwined like threads, with overlapping layers creating a sense of depth and dimensionality. Carefully layering her pieces to create paintings reminiscent of reflections on water or mirror surfaces, the round shapes of the pieces symbolize the cyclical nature of time. Although an abstract concept, nature evolves beyond human influence, and time embodies profound beliefs that transcend our traditional understanding of reality.
