Stay Connected: Navigating the Cloud

Stay Connected: Art and China Since 2008 is a two-part exhibition that, through the lens of digital technologies and manufacturing supply, traces this period and a series of innovative and alternative artistic practices as well as cultural changes.

Navigating the Cloud features over 50 works by 35 artists and collectives, exploring the transformations that the internet and digital technologies have brought to contemporary art practice and society. The exhibition showcases the practices of artists whose work reflects the integration of the internet, social media platforms, and digital technologies into all aspects of daily life.

The artwork is organized into 8 thematic sections, focusing on information bubbles, artificial intelligence, online communities, and the impact of digital technology on the nature of human labor. These sections invite viewers to consider how we can break down boundaries and barriers to "stay connected" in a world where the digital and physical worlds are inextricably linked.

Artists have unleashed unbridled creativity in the unique online environment. Digital technology has not only spawned new art forms but also compelled artists to re-examine the existing limitations of the physical world. With breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, many artists are exploring concepts of community, solidarity, and mutual aid, attempting to reconnect isolated individuals across the vastness of the internet and explore solutions to societal crises.
