Jason Martin: Eclipse

Eclipse is a solo exhibition by the British artist Jason Martin, which showcases that nature and the environment are always the guiding principles of the work’s practical ambitions, approach addresses the materiality and possibilities of structuring painting, questioning the potential of painting.

The painting is both a performance and a stage. Each canvas produced is imbued with an inner vitality, creativity, and creative capacity that constantly surprises, and a wide range of characteristics characterizes the creative process of his paintings and sculptures. A site-specific masterpiece, the 5-part multi-panel Vital Signs brings the viewer closer to the threshold of his desire, facing a majestic and minimalist aerial landscape.

As the passage of time is revealed through a narrative of lines, the goal of the work is to recall nature and landscape, light and space, and the celestial associations encountered while reflecting on cosmic naturalism. Paintings rely as much on structure, method, and execution as on chance and chance. The intense, viscous traces revealed by the large brushes enliven the oil paint and allow the viewer to enter as a participant, following a fleeting but concrete passage of time. This experience is not static, but interactive and immersive.
