Ben Arpea: Glimmers of Summer

Glimmers of Summer is a solo exhibition by the French-Italian artist Ben Arpea, which explores time and the present in depth. He captures the magic of a Southern summer afternoon, reminding us of the beauty of those suspended moments, where each second seems to stretch on to infinity and each moment is lived with rare intensity.

The concept of time has always fascinated and confused humans. In our busy lives, carried away by the daily hustle and bustle, we often find ourselves stuck in the looming future or the lingering past. But now, what about that fleeting moment that, once gone, becomes part of the tapestry of memories that shape our narrative?

Through a series of dynamic works, the artist takes us on a journey of the senses, capturing specific moments: the tension of a midday tennis match in the sun, the tranquility of lunch under the shade of a tree with breathtaking views, a swim at the beach’s refreshing embrace, the soothing calm of the afternoon pool, the reflective contemplation of the Mediterranean horizon. While these scenes are unique, they evoke memories, emotions, and moments in which we truly "lived" in the present.
