Morita Manabu by WOOD and Yuyelai: Duo
Duo is a joint exhibition by 2 artists Morita Manabu by WOOD and Yuyelai, which showcases the sharp and powerful narrative of the former, and the organic and mellow tone of the latter, the two new-generation emerging artists have opened up a new dialogue, showing a new geometry, bringing imagination and vitality to the viewers.
Manabu’s three-dimensional metallic works seem to be dug out by a sharp knife at the moment of birth, exuding a wobbly timeline, depicting a virtual world with a playful style and a sense of speed in street art, giving the audience a sense of freedom. The artist rethinks and rethinks human emotions and values by imagining the only inhabitant of the universe, an artificial intelligence called NEO, and his lonely adventures.
Lai began with the innate " animal nature" of human beings. Her grand interpretation of the world titled "human in Animal" interrogates the “raison d'être”of humans by deconstructing their place in existence. With the theme of "animality inside human", the work depicts the ephemeral imaginary landscape of encounters and interactions between humans and animals. Her gaze is focused on the moment of human birth, asking about the original state and nature of human beings before being baptized in the name of "society". Layers of raindrops on the canvas externalize the aloof, poetic, and fanciful expressions of the rainy night, bringing the viewer an inexplicable sense of nostalgia from time to time.
