Anton Poon: Rubiks and Crystal

Rubiks and Crystals is a solo exhibition of the new sculptures by the Hong Kong-Australian artist Anton Poon, which showcases a new series of pieces made from painted steel consisting of interlocking geometric patterns, with complex formal relationships, examines ideas surrounding human interactions and relationships, paying particular attention to contrasting concepts such as distance and intimacy, emotion and connection, complexity and refinement.

The exhibition is divided into two parts, "Rubiks" (pedestal-based works) and "Crystal" (wall-mounted works). If one module crumbles, everything crumbles - a comment on the importance of support and cooperation in modern society for the greater good. ‘The Rubiks’ (pedestal-based works) consists of a series of abstract modules of varying sizes, combined with dynamic combinations of contrasting colors; "The Crystals" (a wall-mounted piece) represents another piece with the same pattern as "The Rubiks", albeit with an additional cutout within the pattern.
