In this painting, Nansen expresses form as emotions expressed from other fields and dimensions outside the realm of daily life and thought. His vivid image is rooted in the cornerstones of our earthly existence-life and death, pain and pleasure, loneliness and connection, and love and loss. These profound visions are realized through vivid colours and gorgeous, abstract pattern layers. The painter combines expressive brushwork and elaborate printmaking techniques to create a lavender surface.
