Laurent Perbos: Artletics

Artletics is a solo exhibition by the French contemporary artist Laurent Perbos @laurentperbos, which draws inspiration from classical art and sporting culture. The exhibition uses artistic language to echo the 15th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area National Games, injecting Macao with a metropolitan atmosphere that combines public participation and cultural heritage.

Influenced by France's rich classical artistic heritage, draws inspiration from Greek sculpture. Viewing myth as fundamental to human society, he explores the fusion of popular culture with classical narratives in his series "Body Myth." Using optical illusions, he reinterprets classical figures like Venus and Greek heroes with modern elements like basketballs. The artist creates new symbolic icons rooted in contemporary aesthetics while playfully critiquing them through paradox and irony.

The artist views public art as a platform for meaningful encounters, encouraging dialogue between art, space, and viewers. Inspired by mass culture entertainment, he reimagines public spaces as interactive settings. Through altering everyday objects' colors, sizes, and forms, he crafts visually captivating installations that provoke contemplation. In projects like Ping-Pong Garden, he twists and transforms playing tables, rewriting game rules with creativity and openness, transforming a simple game of ping-pong into a catalyst for conversation.
