Chewing Gum V

Chewing Gum V is the latest presentation in a series of group exhibitions, that spotlight work by key modern and contemporary artists, including Zhang Xiaogang, Louise Nevelson, Mao Yan, Irving Penn, Kiki Smith, Claes Oldenburg, and Coosje van Bruggen, and other figures. The show reflects on the exchanges between artists across time and geographic boundaries.

Establishing a dialogue between paintings, sculptures and photographs from the mid-20th century to the present, the exhibition continues the first four editions of the exhibition series that have been in the gallery since 2015.

In the form of abstract works, Sui Jianguo's 3D-printed sculptures feature the artist's fingerprints on cupronickel, the figures in the exhibition. Liu Jianhua's porcelain sculpture Blank Paper (2014) explores the formation of void and its accompanying resonance, inviting viewers to imagine their own narrative work and exhibition.
